New Comers to VRay

I finally bought the VRay Plug-in for Sketchup! Know I can join the world of the render crazy. What should I start with.... the owner's manual would probably be best. Wish me luck:)

  2. Yeah Congrats But just to forewarn you no one makes online tutorials for vray in sketchup. So you will have to look for tutorials on Vray for 3DsMax and do some interpretation to find the settings and buttons in your vray for sketchup version. Don't get discouraged it is pretty easy sketchup has just consolidated some of the lesser used or more complicated settings trees into just one button or one seeting. Evermotion.org is one of the best resources for vray stuff and the tutorials are usually easy to follow. Good Luck. p.s. do not use sketchup materials to render with EVER, EVER, EVER. The link sketchup material tool in vray for sketchup is a fools errand and a waste of time don't use it! Since all the materials online are created for 3dsmax or other programs you will need to spend a lot of time making your own vray materials in sketchup but once you learn the basics this becomes faster than hunting down materials online. Trust me it may seem easier to use linked sketchup materials to render with but you will never get realistic looking material. So put in the time to learn it the right way up front and you will have saved yourself a lot of frustration in the future.
